'J21' back in North East … 27.05.10

The 'J21' is now back in the North East, having moved from the North Norfolk Railway to the National Railway Museum's 'Locomotion' outstation at Shildon in May 2010.

The intention is to assess the locomotive as a joint venture restoration between the LCLT and NRM. Initial work has concentrated on examination and conservation, which has already begun.


In the Press … 27.10.09

The LCLT and J21 made another appearance in the national enthusiast media earlier this month, when a three page article appeared in The Railway Magazine. This article has been reproduce below (with thanks to The Railway Magazine). The LCLT/J21 have now appeared in all three major selling railway magazines, as the push to raise funds continue. A busy autumn for the LCLT … 22.09.09

How to make a 'J21'... and how to win one...
'J21s' are to feature in the next issue of Model Rail magazine, on sale on October 8. There'll be an in-depth look at the class with tips on how to model the locomotives, and details of how to win a very special kit-built 'OO' gauge version of No. 65033.

LCLT applies to Heritage Lottery Fund
The LCLT has applied to the Heritage Lottery Fund for a grant to facilitate the Trust's learning programme and the restoration of both the 'J21' and the North Eastern bogie van, which is to become an interpretational vehicle. The initial 'first round' application is for funds to support a subsequent bigger bid.

Learning coordinator signs up
Dick Hymas, the man known for turning the Colne Valley Railway into an educational institution, has agreed to become the LCLT's learning officer. Dick is developing a learning programme to allow the Trust to work closely with schools and other educational establishments.

Trust at Norfolk gala
Considerable interest was shown in the work of the LCLT at the North Norfolk Railway's gala on September 5/6. We had a stand and Trust volunteers travelled trains talking to interested people about our aims. 'J21' No. 65033 is currently in store at the NNR, awaiting restoration.

In the Press … 22.07.09

Barrow Hill debut … 29.04.09

The Locomotive Conservation and Learning Trust, Britain's newest locomotive owning group made it's public appearance at Barrow Hill Roundhouse (near Chesterfield) over the weekend of 4th and 5th April '09. It was the LCLT's first chance to meet with the general public and canvas support for the Trust and restoration of its locomotive J21 No. 65033.
